[01] Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot chambers of commerce discuss UN plan2055:CYPPRESS:08Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot chambers of commerce discuss UN plan Nicosia, Nov 21 (CNA) The chairmen of the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot chambers of commerce and Industry, Vasilis Rologis and Ali Erel respectively, assured that the economic disparity between the two communities would be tackled if there were to be a viable solution to the Cyprus problem. They made the statements after a meeting in the government-controlled areas of the Republic, where they also issued a statement calling on the leaders of the two communities to negotiate on the basis of the UN plan for a Cyprus settlement, noting that a solution would bring closer the two communities. Rologis said during their meeting, which was held in the presence of the Head of the European Commission Delegation to Cyprus, Adriaan Van Der Meer, they discussed their forthcoming trip to Brussels scheduled for the beginning of December for meetings at the Commission and the European Parliament. They also talked about the EU funded SME (small and medium enterprises) project for 2003 and also touched on the UN Secretary-Generals plan for a Cyprus settlement. UN spokesman Stephan Dujarric acknowledged they received a letter from Denktash but said he had no information on what answer was given to him adding that the SGs statement a day before yesterday speaks for itself.
