    Commission forecasts on Cyprus economy

    Brussels, Oct 29 (CNA) The European Commissions economic forecast for 2003 predicts a modest real GDP growth of 2% in Cyprus, pushed by domestic demand and for 2004 a rebound to 3.4% is expected, increasing in strength in 2005.

    Cyprus GSM auction to enter second day

    Nicosia, Oct 29 (CNA) The first GSM auction in Cyprus will enter its second day on Thursday after eight rounds of closed bidding failed to separate the two rival consortia for the 20-year license being offered as part of the islands EU deregulation drive.

    Bids surpassed 9.75 million Cyprus pounds, with the eight round not calculated. Bidding was interrupted at 1700 local time.

    Telecommunications Regulator, Vassos Pyrgos, told CNA he was satisfied with the procedure, noting that everything went very smoothly, there were no irregularities.

    Nicosia, Oct 29 (CNA) The committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe postponed for two weeks the decision regarding the execution of the European Court of Human Rights decision relating to human rights violations in Cyprus.
