Cyprus makes representations to Ireland over statements on flights

Nicosia, Nov 25 (CNA) -- Cyprus Foreign Ministry Permanent Secretary Sotos Zackheos has made representations to the Ambassador of Ireland in Nicosia John Swift, seeking explanations regarding statements Swift had allegedly made as regards direct trade and direct flights between Cyprus' Turkish-occupied areas and the European Union.

Weather forecast for Cyprus

Nicosia, Nov 25 (CNA) -- The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

Friday and Saturday: 26/11/2004 to 27/11/2004 ------- Friday: Cloudy at times with local showers, isolated thunderstorms and snow over the mountains. Risk of snowfall in lower areas with altitude above 4000FT.

Wind: Strong to Near Gale, West to Northwest, 6 to 7 BF with gusts to 8 BF.

SEA STATE: Rough to Very rough.

TEMPERATURE: Min/Max 7/12 C inland, 10/14 over the south coast, 12/14 over the west coast and 0/0 over Prodromos area.

Saturday: Mainly fine with an increase in temperature, around 2 to 3 C. Gentle to moderate westerly to northwesterly wind. Sea state moderate and soon slight to moderate.

Outlook for Sunday and Monday: 28/11/2004 to 29/11/2004 ------- Mainly fine with a further increase in temperature.

Cyprus spokesman: EU aware of our positions on Turkey's EU course

Nicosia, Nov 25 (CNA) -- The efforts of the Cyprus government in the direction of the European Union, in view of the December European Council, are continuous and both the EU Dutch Presidency and member states know exactly Nicosia's positions on Turkey's EU course, Government Spokesman Kypros Chrysostomides has said.
