    Greek FM stresses need for Cyprus solution

    Ankara, Apr 12 (CNA) The solution to the Cyprus problem should be found through negotiations on a UN-proposed plan (the Annan plan), Greeces Foreign Minister Petros Molyviatis stressed here today after talks with his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul, pointing out that a successful conclusion of any new effort should be guaranteed at the greatest possible level.

    In statements after their talks, Gul said that they exchanged views on the Cyprus problem and noted the UN Secretary-Generals support for efforts towards a solution in Cyprus.

    London, Apr 12 (CNA)- Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos has been invited by British Premier Tony Blair for an official visit to London later this year, British Minister for Europe Peter Hain has said.

    Speaking to CNA, Hain said he was delighted ''to announce that President Papadopoulos has been invited to Britain for an official visit later this year to discuss, on behalf of the Cyprus government, his own views towards promoting peace and settlement on the island''.

    Cyprus takes part in EU Military Committee meeting

    Brussels, Apr 12 (CNA) Commander of the National Guard Lieutenant General Athanasios Nicolodemos represented Cyprus at the deliberations of the European Union Military Committee, that took place today in Brussels with the participation of commanders of armed forces of EU member states.

    During the meeting there was a general review on the European defence capabilities as well as an exchange of views on issues concerning the improvement of EU capabilities to achieve the aims set out in the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP). The meeting also examined other issues concerning the CFSPs military aspects.

    Cyprus and India sign cooperation protocol

    Nicosia, Apr 12 (CNA) A cooperation protocol between Cyprus and India was signed here today aimed at further promoting existing bonds of friendship and strengthening cooperation in the field of the economy, commerce, industry, tourism, transport and health.

    The protocol was signed on behalf of Cyprus by Director General of the Planning Bureau Andreas Moleskis and on behalf of India, Additional Secretary of the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce Abhijit Sengupta who led an Indian delegation that visited Cyprus.

    Cyprus and India exchange agreement on health issues

    Nicosia, Apr 12 (CNA) Cyprus and India exchanged today the instruments of ratification of an agreement in the field of health and medical science, formally marking the start of its implementation.

    The exchang took place during the framework of the fifth meeting of the Cyprus-Indian intergovernmental Committee for Economic, Science, Technical and Industrial Cooperation that took place at the Cyprus Health Ministry, in the presence of Health Minister Andreas Gavrielides and Indias High Commissioner in Nicosia Neelam Dr. Sabharwal.
