Turkey must understand that its European course runs from the Green
Line dividing Cyprus, Greek Minister of Tourism Development Fani Palli
Petralia has said, adding that Ankara should understand that tensions
in the Aegean do not help its EU course.
``Turkey must understand that it must respect the international law
before the EU member-states and must prove this in deed,`` Petralia
said in statements after meeting the Cyprus President Tassos
Papadoulos, adding that ``the EU should the catalyst for the solution
of the Cyprus problem.``
Petralia noted that ``Turkey must understand that its European path
runs through the Green Line,`` adding that ``the tensions and all that
has happened in the Aegean do not assist its European perspective.``
The Greek Minister said that she discussed with Papadopoulos issues of
common interest and mainly issues concerning tourism and tourism
development.
``Cyprus and Greece as EU members have many new paths to follow and
tourism, which is the comparative advantage between the two countries
is one field that we can develop and we decided during my visit here
that to continue the very close cooperation in the field of tourism,``
Petralia concluded.
