[01] CYPRUS PRESIDENT PARTY LEADERSCyprus President Demetris Christofias began briefing the leaders of the political parties on the latest developments regarding Cyprus issue after the first direct meeting on the substance of the Cyprus question with Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat.President Christofias met Saturday morning President of Democratic Party (DEKO) and House President Marios Garoyian, while Friday he briefed left-wing main ruling party AKEL during a meeting with the partys parliamentary spokesman Nicos Katsourides. According to an official announcement issued here today, President Christofias will continue briefing party leaders during the next couple of days. President of the Republic of Cyprus Demetris Christofias and Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat entered substantive negotiations on September 11, aimed at finding a solution to the Cyprus problem. During the meeting, which was being held in the presence of the UN Secretary General`s Special Advisor on Cyprus Alexander Downer, the leaders of the two communities discussed the issue of governance and power sharing.
