Federal offences and federal police were on the agenda of today`s meeting between Cyprus President Demetris Christofias and Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat, in the framework of direct negotiations, held since early September, under UN auspices.

Their 10th meeting lasted 2,5 hours and Taye Brook Zerihoun, UN Secretary Generals Special Representative in Cyprus, said that there was almost full convergence on federal offences and what consist a federal offence.

On the federal police they also achieved some convergence and they have other areas to discuss when they meet next, he added.

The next meeting will held on Tuesday, December 2nd.

In addition to discussion on the federal police, community leaders will discuss Federal Public Service, the Public Service Commission and external affairs.

Asked if there was any discussion about President Christofias protest to the UN on the harassment by a Turkish vessel of a Norwegian ship, which was searching for hydrocarbons in Cyprus` exclusive economic zone, he replied: you have to hear that from them.

Christofias and Talat have been meeting since early September to find a mutually agreed solution that will reunite Cyprus, divided since the 1974 Turkish invasion.
