[01] GREEK FM CYPRUS - VISITGreek Foreign Minister Demetris Droutsas arrives on Monday in Cyprus where he will have meetings with the political leadership.Droutsas will sit attend a dinner on Monday evening hosted by President Demetris Christofias. On Tuesday he will have separate consecutive meetings with House President Marios Garoyian and the leaders or representatives of all six parliamentary parties. He will also hold talks with his Cypriot counterpart Marcos Kyprianou. He will leave Cyprus on Tuesday afternoon. [02] PRESIDENT - DIRECT TALKSPresident of the Republic of Cyprus Demetris Christofias has stressed that the Greek Cypriot side will not accept any changes to the agreed process of the Cyprus issue.President Christofias noted Sunday that we have a process of Cypriot ownership without timeframes or arbitration, adding that any procedures which fall outside the mandate of the UN Security Council can not be accepted by the Greek Cypriot side. In his address Sunday at the Maronite Church in Nicosia, where he attended celebrations for Saint Maronas Day, the Cypriot President said that the government acknowledges that the Maronites of Cyprus are concerned about the Cyprus problem and want a solution of the problem that would contribute to the maintenance of their identity. He pledged that he works for the achievement of an agreed solution that would be to the benefit of all the people of Cyprus, Greek Cypriots, Turkish Cypriots, Maronites, Armenians and Latins. [03] SPOKESMAN PRESIDENT CHRISTOFIASCyprus President Demetris Christofias will only be a candidate for the 2013 presidential elections if a solution of the Cyprus problem is close or if the problem has been solved, Government Spokesman Stephanos Stephanou has said. Stephanou said that President Christofias remains committed to the implementation of its pre-election programme and to the efforts to solve the Cyprus issue.Asked if President Christofias continues to maintain his position not to run in the 2013 presidential elections, Stephanou recalled the Presidents statement that he will not run again for the presidency unless we are close to a solution or unless the Cyprus issue is resolved. It is premature to begin a discussion on the presidential elections of 2013, he added. President of Cyprus Demetris Christofias and Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu are currently engaged in UN-led negotiations with an aim to reunify the island, divided since the 1974 Turkish invasion, under a federal roof.
