[01] FM SYRIA - VISIT
Foreign Minister Markos Kyprianou will visit Syria on Monday 28 March.
An official press release said that during his visit Kyprianou will be
received by the President of Syria, Bashar al-Assad, and will have a
meeting with his Syrian counterpart Walid al-Mouallem.
[02] SYLIKIOTIS BUCHAREST MEETING
Minister of Interior Neoklis Sylikiotis met on Thursday in Bucharest
with his Romanian counterpart Train Constantin Igas with whom he
discussed issues regarding Romanian citizens working in Cyprus.
According to an official press release issued here on Saturday,
referring to Romanian citizens in Cyprus Sylikiotis informed his
counterpart about the measures taken by the Cyprus government in order
to prevent exploitation and trafficking as well as any forms of
criminal behaviour. He also referred to the measures taken against the
unregistered employment
[03] US - GREEK INDEPENDENCE
US President Barack Obama celebrated the anniversary of Greek
Independence at the White House.
Greek government officials, US deputies, prominent Greek-Americans, the
Greek and Cypriot Ambassadors in Washington as well as Archbishop
Demetrios of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America attended the
celebration which took place on Friday.
Addressing the guests, President Obama spoke about the bond between the
two nations and the ``excellent`` relations with Greek Prime Minister
George Panandreou, whom he called ``a very good friend``.
