The second shipment of electric generators arrived this morning at the
port of Limassol to increase Cyprus electricity capacity after the
deadly blast at the Naval Base Evaggelos Florakis, which destroyed the
islands main power plant at Vassiliko.
Overall, the power generating capacity supplied by the Greek Public
Power Corporation (дег) as part of the Greek offer of assistance
following the 11th July tragedy will arrive in Cyprus in four separate
shipments.
Once installed, the equipment from Greece will have a nominal
generating capacity of 70 MW.
[02] ZYGI - MINISTRY - AIR - EXPLOSION
The Ministry of Labour has given the all clear to the quality of air
near Zygi, where a massive explosion of munitions took place on July 11
at a nearby naval base.
The Department of Labour announced Monday that the results of
measurements monitoring the quality of air at Zygi show that the hourly
concentration of particulates (PM10) is between 28 and 79 mg/m3, the
hourly concentration of sulfur dioxide (SO2) is below 2 mg/m3 and the
hourly concentration of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) is below 27 mg/m3.
According to the Department of Labour, the daily limit value for PM10
is 50 mg/m3, while the hourly limit for SO2 is 350 mg/m3 and 200 mg/m3
for NO2.
