    • [01] Minister of Energy to hold contacts in the US

    Minister of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism Yiorgos Lakkotrypis will hold a series of high level meetings in the US, including with US Energy Minster Ernest Moniz.

    Lakkotrypis will hold a meeting with State Department officials on energy matters and Eurasian relations, in Washington, after which he will have a meeting with Moniz.

    [02] Ministry of Labour to announce new plans to combat unemployment

    The Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance will announce additional plans to combat unemployment, by the end of September.

    This was announced by Minister of Labour and Social Insurance Zeta Emilianides, after a meeting she held with trade unions.

    [03] Cyprus to participate in anti-piracy conference in Dubai

    Minister of Communications and Works Tasos Mitsoupoulos will take part in a counter maritime piracy international conference, on September 11 and 12, that takes place in Dubai.

    The high level conference, the third one so far, is a dialogue platform between the private and the public sectors with a view to countering maritime piracy on an international and regional level, an official press release says

    [04] WHO/Europe delegation discusses ways for technical support to Ministry of Health

    A delegation by the World Health Organisation's Regional Office for Europe, (WHO/Europe) held a meeting Tuesday in Nicosia with officials from the Cyprus Ministry of Health, with whom they discussed ways to offer technical support to the Ministry, following the signing of an MoU between Cyprus and the Troika (EC, ECB, IMF) in Spring.

    The WHO/Europe delegation also discussed possible technical support to Cyprus' proposals in the framework of the EU financial programs.

    According to an official press release, the EU officials, who met with Minister of Health Petros Petrides, were briefed on the current challenges faced by the Ministry as well as on Cyprus' obligations based on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Troika on health issues.
