Ambassador Mediterranean [01] Polish - Cypriot parliamentary relations excellent, says Polish AmbassadorPolish Ambassador Pawel Dobrowolski has thanked Acting President and House of Representatives Yiannakis Omirou for the cooperation and the excellent parliamentary relations between the two countries.Omirou received Dobrowolski for a farewell meeting, here, on Thursday, an official press release says. Dobrowolski referred in particular to a fruitful exchange of parliamentary delegations between the two countries during the Cyprus EU Council Presidency at the second half of 2012. [02] Labour Minister participates in EU Conference on Youth EmploymentMinister of Labour and Social Insurance Zeta Aimilianidou participated last Tuesday in the meeting of EU27 Labour Ministers, that took place before the Conference of Heads of Member States of the European Union on Youth Employment in Paris.The meeting was a continuation of the forum held on the same subject on July 3, 2013, in order to assess the progress made by the Member States for employment of young people and to prepare the establishing of the Recommendation on "Youth Guarantee". The 27 Ministers exchanged views on good practices for addressing youth unemployment and briefed each other on the progress made in each Member State regarding the recommendation on "Youth Guarantee". The Cypriot Minister, in her intervention, elaborated on the measures adopted by her Ministry to address unemployment, as well as those to be implemented on the end of 2013. [03] Annual Conference of PRIO focuses on hydrocarbons in Eastern MediterraneanHydrocarbon reserves in the Eastern Mediterranean were the focus of the 2013 Annual Conference of the PRIO Cyprus Center (Peace Research Institute Oslo) that took place Thursday in Nicosia.The conference focused on the significant geostrategic, economic, and political implications of hydrocarbon development in the Eastern Mediterranean. The emphasis was on countries with proven or potential oil and gas reserves, Israel, Cyprus, Lebanon Egypt, and their neighbors, Greece and Turkey, as well as countries with strong strategic interests in the region (USA, Russia). The conference was addressed by Ambassador of Norway in Greece and Cyprus Sjur Larsen and Ambassador of Germany in Cyprus Gabriela Guellil.
