[01] Kasoulides expresses deep sorrow for Andrew Athens' death
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ioannis Kasoulides, has expressed deep
sorrow for the passing away of Honorary SAE President Andrew Athens. I
n a written statement , Kasoulides underlined that Athens was one of the
great friends of Cyprus. "He was a great patriot who devoted his life
to ceaselessly promoting and defending the core values and interests of
our national matters and of Orthodoxy".
He was instrumental to the creation of the Hellenic lobby in Washington
after the Turkish invasion of 1974 and he never stopped fighting for
the termination of the Turkish occupation and for the reunification of
Cyprus, the Minister added.
[02] Cyprus' harmonised annual inflation down to 1.8%
Harmonised annual inflation in Cyprus, the Eurozone and the EU dropped
in February, according to data issued on Friday by Eurostat.
Inflation in Cyprus dropped to 1.8% compared to 2% in January.
Euro area annual inflation was 1.8% in February 20132, down from 2%
in January.
A year earlier the rate was 2.7%. Monthly inflation was 0.4% in February
2013.
