[01] Allegations of money laundering in Cyprus are not confirmed
Allegations of money laundering in Cyprus are not confirmed, the Minister
of Finance has said.
Moneyval and Deloitte carried out an investigation following allegations
by EU states, especially Germany, that there is money laundering in
Cyprus.
The investigation has been concluded, and according to Minister of
Finance, Harris Georgiades, "the results for Cyprus are much better than
some outside Cyprus might like to present".

[02] Bank of Cyprus elects new chairman
Sophocles Michaelides has been elected Chairman of the Bank of Cyprus
transitional board of directors.
The board, in its first meeting after its members were appointed by the
Central Bank of Cyprus, also elected Erol Riza Vice-Chairman of the board.
[03] Eurogroup decision was political, says Attorney General
The Eurogroup decision on Cyprus of March 25, belongs to the political
realm and constitutes as such an ‘Act of Government', was the message
sent by Attorney General Petros Clerides during his closing argument
before the plenary of the Supreme Court, on Tuesday.
The pre-trial process concerns a large number of appeals against certain
decrees issued by the Central Bank concerning the two largest banks of
Cyprus, namely Bank of Cyprus and Cyprus Popular Bank.
