[01] UN shuttle talks begin again
The UN Secretary-General's Resident Representative in Cyprus, Dame Ann
Hercus, resumed UN shuttle talks on the Cyprus problem in view of the
recent decision not to deploy the S-300 missiles on the island.
After a meeting this morning with President Glafcos Clerides she said she
would be meeting with Turkish Cypriot leader, Rauf Denktash, "later in the
week" and again with President Clerides "early next week".
[02] US Congressional Staffers visiting Cyprus
An eight member delegation of staff members of US congressmen arrived on
the island yesterday for a three day visit.
During their stay they will have meetings with political leaders,
government and local officials. They will meet Foreign Minister, Ioannis
Kasoulides, President of the House of Representatives, Spyros Kyprianou and
Chief Negotiator and Co-ordinator of the Harmonisation Process for Cyprus'
accession to the European Union, George Vassiliou.
