Algeria will continue to support the efforts for a settlement of the Cyprus problem that would safeguard the unity, territorial integrity and independence of the island, Algerian Foreign Minister Mr Abdelaziz Belkhadem stated after separate meetings with Acting President of the Republic Mr Spyros Kyprianou and Foreign Minister Mr Ioannis Kasoulides.

The Algerian Minister, who came for an official visit to the island at the invitation of his Cypriot counterpart, expressed satisfaction with his meetings in Cyprus. He described political relations between Algeria and Cyprus as excellent and stressed that his county wishes to further develop bilateral relations in the economic, cultural and tourist fields.
