  • [01] Denktash left for Ankara meets Demirel tomorrow

    According to KIBRIS (23.11.95) the Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash left the occupied area today for Istanbul for a four day visit.

    Denktash will go today to Istanbul where he will visit his wife who recently had an operation and her treatment still continues.

    Tomorrow Denktash will go to Ankara and be present at the opening of his photographic exhibition, the proceeds of it will be donated for the reforestation fund for the Pentadaktylos range which was destroyed by a forest fire in late June early July. Tomorrow Denktash, will have a working dinner with the Turkish President Suleyman Demirel in Ankara. (MY)

    [02] Ciller: We have discussed the Cyprus problem with Mr. Major

    According to KIBRIS (23.11.95) the Turkish Prime Minister Tansu Ciller said that during her meeting with the British Prime Minister John Major she referred to the Cyprus problem as well. She said that during the meeting they have agreed that for a just solution both sides in Cyprus should be in continuous dialogue and added that Turkey favoured a settlement in Cyprus. (MY)

    [03] Denktash meets Israeli Ambassador

    According to KIBRIS (23.11.95) Israeli Ambassador to Cyprus Shemi Tzur had a meeting yesterday with Denktash.

    During the meeting which continued over a lunch, the Middle East Peace process and the Cyprus problem were discussed and views were exchanged. (MY)

    [04] Rasit continues to send letters

    According to KIBRIS (23.11.95) the so-called Foreign and Defence Minister of the pseudostate Atay Ahmet Rasit sent a letter to the Council of Europe Secretary General Daniel Tarschys.

    In his five page letter Rasit repeated known Turkish views regarding the pseudostate, Turkish occupation forces presence in the occupied area, Cyprus' bid for joining the EU and Cyprus attempt to strengthen its defence against the 40 thousand strong Turkish armed forces. (MY)
