    NEWS ITEMS

    [01] Pseudostate's "government" to resign

KIBRIS (2.7.96) reports that the Democratic Party chairman Serdar Denktash has declared that the so-called DP-RTP coalition "government" will tender its resignation by the end of this week. During a press conference held last night, Serdar Denktash said that today he will have a meeting with the coalition partner. He will meet the chairman of the RTP Mehmet Ali Talat to decide the date of the pseudo-government's resignation date. Meanwhile, behind the scene, work is going on to establish a right-wing coalition "government" in the occupied area among the NUP and the DP. The green light for such a formation was given by Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash who, in an exclusive statement to KIBRIS, said that he has no objection in giving Eroglu the order to establish a new "government". Two and a half years ago Denktash vehemently opposed appointing Eroglu to form the "government". (MY)

[02] Turkish diplomats briefed by Denktash

KIBRIS I2.7.96) reports that four Turkish diplomats who will be posted to the Turkish embassies in Brussels, London, Washington and New York, where their main line of activity will be to deal with the Cyprus problem, had a meeting yesterday with Rauf Denktash. The four Turkish diplomats were briefed by Denktash on the Cyprus problem. (MY)

    [03] "Irregularity" in land dealing

YENIDUZEN (2.7.97) unveils an "irregularity" regarding a 30-donum land in occupied Famagusta's free port area belonging to late Anice Mogabgab and her husband Winifred Anice Mogabgab, that lawyer Mentes Aziz and Boyaci's family want to buy, who are also involved in the collusion between the NUP and the DP.
