    [01] FRIENDLY FOOTBALL MATCH TO TAKE PLACE IN JUNE

    According to KIBRIS (30/5/97) a Turkish Cypriot and a Greek Cypriot football team will be playing a friendly match.

    The match between the under 18 team of AEL Limassol and Gensler Birligi of the occupied area will take place on 12 and 19 June.

    The first game, on 12 June, will be at the Makarios stadium in Nicosia and the return match will take place on 19 June at the Ataturk stadium in the occupied area.

    [02] KENAN EVREN DEPARTS

    According to ORTAM (30.5.97) the leader of the 12 September 1980 military coup in Turkey, retired general Kenan Evren, who was in the occupied area as the guest of Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash, completed his visit and left the occupied area yesterday.

    Speaking at the occupied Tymbou airport prior to his departure, Evren said that at the first opportunity he will be visiting the occupied area again and added: "Cyprus is one of our parts with which we have become closely related. It is not possible to separate us."

    He suggested to the Turkish Cypriots to take bold economic steps to raise the standard of living in the occupied area.

    [03] LEASING OF SALAMIS BAY HOTEL

    According to KIBRIS (30/5/97) the so-called chairman of the Vakif Administration Excecutive Committee Ilker Nevzah has declared that the leasing of the Salamis Bay Hotel will be completed during the coming days.

    Nevzah further said that work on privatization of the Dome Hotel in occupied Kyrenia is continuing and every possibility is being considered.
