[03] Project for dam in occupied Limnitis area under UN supervision
KIBRIS (8.3.99) reports on an interview with Russian ambassador to Cyprus,
Georgy Muratov, during which the ambassador said that Russia is working on
a project to construct a dam on the river Karkotis in the area of the
occupied village of Limnitis. In case the project is realized, under UN
supervision, both Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots will benefit as
regards the water shortage problem, Mr. Muratov said.
Muratov refused to answer questions put to him on the Ocalan issue. He
only said ``we are against any form of terrorism''.
In reply to a question, Muratov said the reason why the Russian embassy has
no branch in the occupied area is not political but a question of money.
