    [01] NEW COMMANDER OF TURKISH OCCUPATION FORCES

    KIBRIS (22.8.99) reports that during a ceremony yesterday at the headquarters of the commandership of the so-called Turkish Peace Forces in occupied Kyrenia, corps commander Aydin Sen handed over his duties to major- general Sukru Sariisik.

    [02] PRICE OF ELECTRICITY UP BY 27%

    According to Yeni Duzen (21.8.99) the so-called coalition government has increased the price of electricity by 27%. The article underlines the fact that the pseudo-government decided this increase at a time when people's attention was at the destruction caused by the earthquake in Turkey.

    [03] BELARUS JOURNALISTS IN "TRNC"

    Birlik (21.8.99) reports that a group of Belarus journalists arrived in the occupied area last night for contacts.

    The group came as the "official quests" of the pseudostate and they will remain to he island until 27 of August.

    The group of "Belarus Televizyon" reporters will meet Monday (23/8) with the "director" of Denktash's so-called Information Office, Mustafa Kortun, and afterwards with so-called foreign affairs Minister Tahsin Erturuloglu.

    On 24 of August, the Belarus group will meet with Turkish-Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash, so-called prime minister Dervis Eroglu and the "vice president" of the "coalition government" Mustafa Akkinci. During their stay, the will also visit the so-called East Mediterranean University.
