    [01] ``Near East News Agency'' formed

    KIBRIS (20.12.99) reports that ``Near East News Agency'' (Yakin Dogu Haber Ajansi, YDHA) has been set up at the Information Faculty of the ``Near East University (YDU)''.

    ``YDHA´s'' primary aim is to supplement the training of the ``YDU'' Information Faculty students with journalism. But within the coming days the agency will start supporting the Turkish Cypriot press by p roviding it with ``research-investigation reports'', ``news'', and ``interviews''.

    Journalist-Writer Mustafa Dogrusoz, a member of ``YDU´s'' teaching staff, has been made the director of this agency.

    For starters, the agency is publishing a newspaper called ``Near News'' (Yakin Haber). The preparation work has been completed and the newspaper will appear sometime within the week.

    ``YDHA which is part of the ``YDU'', has a room full of computers, a conference hall, library and archives. The agency building also has news, page-setting, photograph, and Internet facilities.

    [02] Turkish Cypriot firm to supply UNFICYP with mineral water

    According to KIBRIS (2.1.2000), the UN Peace-keeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) will use the Turkish Cypriot mineral water ``Trodos'' produced by EL-SU Trade and Industries Ltd. The tender opened by UNFICYP was won by Elmas Guzelyurtlu´s EL-SU Ltd.

    EL-SU has started to produce ``Trodos'' two months ago.

    In 1999, ``Pharmakas'' mineral water was the supplier for UNFICYP. (MY)
