    [01] Printing company fined in Denktash-AVRUPA case

    According to AVRUPA (27.5.00), Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash/s lawyer Fuat Veziroglu has sent a note to the "Yarin Gazetecilik ve Matbaacilik Ltd." printing company, where "AVRUPA" gets printed, demanding 120 billion TL in damages decided by the so-called court to be paid to his client - Rauf Denktash -with a 30% interest.

    In his reminder note Veziroglu demands the payment to be made the soonest possible according to the provisions of the "judgement".

    [02] Denktash: Settlement based on equal sovereignty

    According to YENI DEMOKRAT (30.5.00) Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash, had a meeting yesterday with the so-called state minister and deputy prime minister Mustafa Akinci.

    During the meeting economic issues and the Cyprus problem were evaluated. After the meeting Denktash repeated his known views regarding the Cyprus problem. Denktash claimed that "despite the fact that the Greek Cypriots continue their mistakes regarding the Cyprus problem, the TRNC is ready to sign a lasting settlement based on the equal sovereignty". He went on and said: "This is a major step and important development towards reconciliation. We expect that the Greek Cypriot side will properly evaluate this".

    [03] Shops in occupied Nicosia closing down

    KIBRIS (30.5.00) reports under banner headlines that the market place within the walls in occupied Nicosia is dying every passing day and the shops are closing one by one.

    The shop owners in the "Arasta" area, once the heart of the retail business in occupied Nicosia, blame the so-called "government" of being responsible for the situation.

    The shop owners say that because of lack of planning they are condemned to close down their businesses.

    [04] Turkish Cypriots to attend Parliamentary Assembly meeting

    According to KIBRIS (30.5.00) a so-called assembly delegation will attend the meeting of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly, which will be held between 25 June and 2 July, in Strasbourg.

    The delegation will consist of so-called assembly speaker Ertugrul Hasipoglu, Hasan Hasipoglu from NUP, Mustafa Arabacioglu from DP, Tahsin Mertekci from CLP and Sanay Aden from RTP.

    [05] "TRNC International Fair"

    KIBRIS (30.5.00) reports that the 24th "TRNC International Fair" will be opened on 9 June.

    This year, 150 firms will exhibit their products. 110 firms are from the pseudostate and the rest are from Turkey and other countries.

    [06] New "stamps"

    KIBRIS (30.5.00) reports that the so-called "post office" of the pseudostate will issue a new series of commemorative "stamps" called "Europe 2000".
