[01] Eroglu: Geneva talks aim at lasting accord, world recognition of "TRNC"

According to a report by illegal Bayrak Radio 1 (5:00 hours, 07.7.00), so- called prime minister Dervis Eroglu has said that the aim of the third round proximity talks being held in Geneva is to make the world accept at the negotiating table "the reality of the TRNC" and to reach a lasting agreement. Eroglu added that Turkey/s de facto guarantees and the recognition of the "TRNC state" are prerequisites for a lasting agreement.

Addressing a ceremony marking the inauguration of a wedding hall in occupied Kythrea, Eroglu also referred to the pseudostate/s economic problems, noting that these problems stem from the fact that the "TRNC" has not yet concluded its struggle for existence and that it has not yet proved its independence to the world.

[02] New excavations at Salamis Ruins

According to KIBRIS (7.7.00) the Archaeology and Culture Research Centre of "East Mediterranean University" has restarted excavations at the occupied Salamis Ruins.

The excavations are carried out with the cooperation of the so-called Turkish Embassy, the "Archaeological and Museums Department" and the University of Ankara. Professor Dr. Coskun Orgunel leads the excavations.
