 Document on Turkey's expectations regarding the Turkish Republic in occupied Cyprus given by Gul to European and Arab officials in New YorkIstanbul NTV television (22.04.09) broadcast the following: "Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul, currently in New York for the UN General Assembly meetings, held bilateral meetings with some of his European colleagues. Discussions pertaining to the Turkish Penal Code [TCK] once again dominated the agenda of the talks. The Italian, Portuguese, and Dutch ministers questioned Gul about the ongoing debate regarding the TCK bill. Gul gave detailed information especially to the Dutch foreign minister, the current term president of the EU, explaining that the bill is comprised of 348 articles and lamented the fact that this reform bill is being discussed on the basis of a single article. Gul said: 'These matters are still being discussed broadly. The National Assembly has not made a decision yet'.
According to our information, the Dutch minister, in turn, gave the following message to Gul: 'The EU expects you to enact this law before the Progress Report'. The Dutch minister expressed the belief that if the TCK is legislated, there will no issues that will create a problem in the Progress Report. The Italian minister underlined the expectation with regard to the enactment of the TCK.
Meanwhile, Gul relayed to both his European and Arab colleagues a document incorporating the expectations on lifting the isolation imposed on the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus."
 Ali Erel sends a letter to COREPER admitting that only 15 % of the occupied land of Cyprus belongs to the Turkish Cypriots and demanding that the companies of the Turkish colonizers be eligible for financial aid from the EUTurkish Cypriot daily KIBRIS newspaper (22.09.04) reports that Ali Erel, chairman of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce (TCCC), has sent a letter to the representative of the Dutch presidency of the European Union at COREPER, expressing the opinion that the Turkish Cypriot economy could only be improved soundly with the adoption of the "Direct Trade" regulation and the "Financial Assistance" regulation "without any reference to the issue of the properties".
Referring to the condition that the financial aid granted by the EU to the Turkish Cypriots could not be used for making investments on occupied Greek Cypriot properties, Mr Erel said that they are totally against this provision and argued that the issue of the properties could be solved only with an overall agreement like the Annan Plan. "With this condition the Turkish Cypriots will be able to make investment only on the 15 % of the land in the north", he admitted.
The paper writes that Mr Erel pointed out that the use of the financial aid would not be possible in the occupied part of Cyprus in case an article preventing the companies established by Turkish settlers from having benefits from the European financial aid is added in the regulation or in case the relevant article changes in this direction.
Mr Erel asked also that Turkish Cypriots be represented in COREPER's meetings when issues that concern them are discussed.
 Rauf Denktasī grandson front page in MilliyetTurkish daily Milliyet newspaper (22.09.04) reports that although the Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktas has said: "Those who obtain the 'Greek Cypriot' (Cypriot) citizenship are traitors", his grandson applied to the authorities of the Republic of Cyprus for obtaining the identity card of the Republic of Cyprus.
According to the newspaper, the grandson of Rauf Denktas, Rauf Kursat, explaining to Milliyet the reasons of his application, said: "I will go to Britain to get my master degree on Political Sciences. If you are not citizen of the EU, the tuition fees are ten times more. For this reason I applied. It is not for pleasure but for my education".
The daughter of Rauf Denktas, Mrs Deger Denktas, said that her son applied for a Cypriot citizenship as well as a Turkish one. She also explained that her father did not react on this issue.
Moreover, the paper reports that the daughter of the former so-called Prime Minister Dervis Eroglu obtained also an identity card of the Republic of Cyprus.
 Trafficking of human beings through the occupation regime to the EU countries is on the riseTurkish Cypriot daily ORTAM newspaper (22.09.04), in its front page under the banner headline "Trafficking of human beings", reports that since Cyprus' accession to the EU the trafficking of human beings from Asian countries through the occupied areas to the free areas of Cyprus has increased.
According to the newspaper, the number of the Syrians, who have been arrested for violating restricted military areas, has increased lately. It is also reported that the illegal immigrants are carried to the free areas of Cyprus from Turkey through the occupied areas of Cyprus.
The issue involves huge sums of money and, for example, the transportation of a single person from "North Cyprus" to "South Cyprus" costs 5000 dollars.
The paper reports that Turkey and the occupation regime are just a link of the trafficking net and those who have been arrested until now are just the victims.
At Tasucu, a town of Mersin district, twenty one persons with Syrian citizenship, who wanted to go illegally to the occupied areas of Cyprus with a boat, were caught inside a truck with plate number TBY 850, which was registered under the name Bayram Oztcil travelling to "North Cyprus".
The authorities that arrested the Syrians, who were hiding behind tyres and other equipment inside the truck, announced that the interrogations are continuing. Meanwhile, it is announced that the Syrians entered Turkey with passports.
 Ahmet Kasif joined the National Unity PartyLocal Gunes newspaper (22.09.04) reports that Mr Ahmet Kasif, so-called MP in occupied Famagusta district, is joining the National Unity Party of Dervis Eroglu.
Mr Kasif and Mr Unal Ustel, so-called MP of occupied Kyrenia district, left the Democratic Party of Serdar Denktas last April after disagreeing with Mr Denktas.
The new distribution of the 50 seats in the so-called Assembly of Ankara's regime in occupied Cyprus is as follows:

 Export of carobsTurkish Cypriot daily KIBRIS newspaper (22.09.04) reports that the occupation regime exported 250 tons of carobs last year, earning 500,000 euro. This year carob production will reach 2-3 thousand tons.
