  • [01] Mergers: Commission approves proposed acquisition of Orange Netherlands by T-Mobile

    The European Commission has cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed acquisition of the telecommunications company Orange Netherlands by T-Mobile Netherlands, belonging to the Deutsche Telekom group. The Commission concluded that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or any substantial part of it.

    [02] Mergers: Commission clears acquisition of Telenor Satellite Services by Apax Partners

    The European Commission has authorised under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed acquisition of Norwegian Telenor Satellite Services, a company providing satellite-based communication services, by Apax Partners, a French management company of investment funds. The Commission concluded that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or any substantial part of it.

    [03] Enregistrement de trois dénominations de produits agricoles

    La Commission européenne a ajouté trois dénominations de produits agricoles et alimentaires la liste des appellations d'origine protégées (AOP) et indications géographiques protégées (IGP). Il s'agit.du riz italien "Riso di Baraggia Biellese e Vercellese" (AOP), du piment espagnol "Pimentón de la Vera" (AOP) et du pain tchèque "Karlovarský suchar" (IGP). Les trois dénominations s'ajoutent la liste d'environ 800 produits déj protégés en vertu de la législation sur la protection des indications géographiques, des appellations d'origine et des spécialités traditionnelles.     [04] Commission clears acquisition of Stork by Candover

    The European Commission has granted clearance under the EU Merger Regulation to the acquisition of sole control of Stork N.V. (‘Stork’, The Netherlands) by Candover Investments plc (‘Candover’, UK). Candover is a private global investment firm, an arranger and provider of private equity for large European buy-outs. Stork is an industrial group active in the following sectors: Stork Aerospace, Stork Food Systems, Stork Technical Services and Stork Prints. The operation was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.

    [05] Commission clears acquisition of AK&N by Sumitomo/Itochu/Toyo

    The European Commission has granted clearance under the EU Merger Regulation to the acquisition of sole control of joint control of AK&N UK Ltd (‘AK&N’, UK) by Sumitomo Chemical Company (‘Sumitomo’, Japan), Itochu Corporation (‘Itochu’, Japan) and Toyo Ink Mfg. (‘Toyo’, Japan). Sumitomo is active in the production of chemicals. Itochu is a general trading company. Toyo is active in the sectors of printing inks and equipment, chemicals, resins. AK&N deals with the manufacture and marketing of thermoplastic compound materials. The operation was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.
