Après la Champagne-Ardenne hier, (IP/08/1319), elle est aujourd'hui en Lorraine, l'invitation du Préfet de la région, M. Bernard Niquet. La Commissaire participera un colloque consacré la « stratégie régionale de l'innovation » développée par la région pour tourner définitivement le dos aux différentes vagues de restructurations industrielles.[02] EU celebrates 7th European Mobility Week: 'Clean Air for All'More than 200 million people across Europe and around the world are expected to take part in European Mobility Week (16-22 September) – the biggest global event dedicated to sustainable urban travel. This year's theme, 'Clean Air for All', encourages local authorities to organise initiatives that highlight the link between mobility and air quality, and launch permanent measures to cut harmful emissions, such as introducing low- emission zones or parking and bus shuttle services to city centres.[03] Summit promotes joint commitment to improve inclusion for millions of RomaThe European Commission will today launch the first EU-level summit devoted to improving the situation of Roma communities across the Union. The event, taking place in Brussels, aims to promote a joint commitment by national, European and civil society representatives to tackle the widespread discrimination and exclusion faced by millions of Europeans of Roma origin (see also MEMO/08/559).[04] Kopernikus: Observer notre planète pour un monde plus sûrKopernikus est le nouveau nom donné aux activités d'observation de la Terre menées par la Commission européenne et précédemment désignées sous le sigle GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security, surveillance mondiale de l'environnement et de la sécurité). Le nom Kopernikus a été annoncé aujourd'hui par le vice président de la Commission Günter Verheugen lors d'une conférence consacrée au GMES et tenue Lille en coopération avec la présidence française de l'UE. These figures come from Eurostat.[06] Commission clears acquisition of Laupheim by Diehl and ThalesThe European Commission has granted clearance under the EU Merger Regulation to the acquisition of joint control of the Laupheim manufacturing site belonging to Airbus Deutschland GmbH by Diehl Stiftung & Co. KG (Diehl) of Germany and Thales, SA of France. Diehl is active in defence and aero systems. Thales is active in aerospace, defence and security markets. Laupheim manufactures products for airline cabin interiors. Airbus is active in the manufacturing of aircraft and related services. The operation was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.[07] Fisheries: Commission gives green light to Mediterranean Regional Advisory CouncilThe European Commission yesterday declared operational the Mediterranean Regional Advisory Council (RAC). This RAC is the seventh stakeholder-led body created to give the fishing industry and other interested parties a greater say in the way fisheries are managed at EU level. With the establishment of the Mediterranean RAC, the governance framework set up by the reform of the Common Fisheries policy is now complete. The Mediterranean RAC will provide a forum for all stakeholders from Mediterranean Member States to debate the future of fisheries management of fisheries in this area, and provide advice and recommendations on policy to the European Commission and to Member States. It will include representatives from the catching sector, aquaculture producers, processors, traders, recreational and sport fishermen, environmental NGOs and consumers. Representatives of other Mediterranean countries may be invited to participate in the RAC as active observers. The creation of RACs was one of the pillars of the 2002 reform of the Common Fisheries Policy. Six other RACs have been created since 2002: the North Sea RAC (2004), the Pelagic RAC and the North Western Waters RAC (2005), the Baltic Sea RAC (2006), the Long Distance RAC and the South Western Waters RAC (2007). This competition follows the Commission's initiative to reduce administrative burdens by 25 percent in 2012 and now specifically calls on citizens and entrepreneurs to come forward with their ideas. ,,Let us know what could be done better, we would like to hear your ideas to reduce red tape'', Dr. Stoiber said. ,,I'm looking forward to launch this competition. We want concrete proposals from our citizens to reduce unnecessary bureaucracy.” The launch event will take place in the Berlaymont building of the European Commission in Brussels, meeting room Schuman, at 11.30 am. Sony BMG est la société d'enregistrement conjointement détenue par Sony et Bertelsmann. Après la transaction, Sony sera le seul propriétaire de Sony BMG qui sera renommée Sony Music Entertainment Inc. A l'examen de l'opération, la Commission a conclu que la concentration n'entravera pas de manière significative une concurrence effective dans l'espace économique européen (EEE) ou une part substantielle de celui-ci.[10] Mergers: Commission approves proposed acquisition of Alliance & Leicester by Banco SantanderThe European Commission has cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed acquisition of the UK bank Alliance & Leicester by the Spanish bank Banco Santander. Banco Santander is already present in the UK since its acquisition of Abbey National, cleared by the Commission in 2004 (see IP/04/1105). After examination, the Commission concluded that the proposed operation would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or in a substantial part of it.[11] Mergers: Commission approves proposed acquisition of EPCOS by TDKThe European Commission has cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed acquisition of EPCOS, a German producer of electronic components, by the Japanese company TDK. After examination, the Commission concluded that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or any substantial part of it.[12] Mergers: Commission approves acquisition of Kirchner by Strabag and refers review of local asphalt market to German competition authorityActing under the EU Merger Regulation, the European Commission has cleared the proposed acquisition of German construction company Kirchner Holding GmbH by Strabag SE of Austria. Both parties are active in construction markets, including road construction, and in several building materials markets. In view of the parties' low market shares in the construction markets and the local building material markets, the Commission concluded that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or any substantial part of it. At the same time, the Commission has decided to refer the assessment of the impact of the operation on the Erfurt regional asphalt market to Germany’s Federal Cartel Office (Bundeskartellamt).[13] Mergers: Commission clears proposed acquisition of joint control over Italian energy supplier Enia Energia by Centrex, ZMB and Enia S.p.A.The European Commission has cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed acquisition of joint control over Enìa Energia S.p.A. of Italy by Centrex Europe Energy & Gas AG of Austria, ZMB GmbH, controlled by OAO Gazprom of Russia, and Enìa S.p.A. of Italy.
