Greece is apparently ready to promote the lifting of an air travel
embargo slapped by the European Union against Yugoslavia.
According to reports, Greek Foreign Minister George Papandreou will
place the issue before the Union¢s General Affairs Council in Brussels
on Monday, requesting a lifting of the embargo. At present, flights
from EU member-states to Yugoslavia are banned.
Papandreou has stressed that Athens wishes to send a message to the
people of Serbia, namely, that the international community does not
want to harm but to support democratic reforms in the Balkan country.
