[01] Archbishop - Romania - Visit

Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Christodoulos is expected to depart on Saturday for Bucharest as an official guest of the Romanian Orthodox Church.

A tour of several monasteries and sites in the country is scheduled, while the Greek Churchs prelate will also meet with Greek students studying in Romania and visit the Greek Cultural Centre in Bucharest.

A Romanian-language religious monogram written Christodoulos is also expected to be unveiled during a ceremony in the city of Jassy.

His visit will last until Thursday.

[02] Olympic - Torch - Sydney

A ceremony to hand-over the Olympic torch to a delegation representing the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games is scheduled for Saturday evening in Athens.

The event will take place in front of the Greek capitals outdoor Panathenian Stadium, an impressive, marble-decorated venue rebuilt on the exact location where an ancient stadium stood -- as well as the site where the first modern Olympics of 1896 were held.

Among others, Greek President Kostis Stephanopoulos will attend the ceremony.

Mostly sunny weather is forecast for throughout Greece on Sunday, with brief scattered showers possible in Epirus and western Macedonia during the afternoon. Winds west, northwesterly, light to moderate. Temperatures on the mainland between 15 to 32C, 17 to 29C for the islands and coastal areas. Athens sunny with temperatures ranging from 18 to 32C. Mostly sunny in Thessaloniki with only a slight chance of rain, 16 to 30C.
