SAINT-GALLEN, SWITZERLAND (ANA - A. Dimitriadis) - Greece drew 2-2 with Switzerland in a soccer friendly here on Wednesday night.

The Swiss led in the 13th minute with a powerful shot from Comisetti. The Greeks put the game level at 1-1 in the 20th minute with a spectacular header from Ouzounidis. Just three minutes later, the Greek squad made it 2-1 with Georgiadis who flicked the ball past the Swiss goalkeeper. Switzerland's equaliser came in the 78th minute from a header by Yakin.

The friendly match was a test for the Greek national team which is preparing for the qualifying matches of the 2002 World Cup.

Greece will play against Germany in a World Cup European Group Nine qualifying match in Hamburg on September 2.

    [04] Stock Market-Close

    16/08/2000 19:00:00

Stocks fell on the Athens Stock Exchange on Wednesday due to short-term profit taking in the wake of two consecutive rises.

Trade remained thin, and turnover needed to rise in order for a trend to emerge, analysts said.

The general index ended 1.47 percent lower at 3,750.84 points with turnover at 59.43 billion drachmas.

Analysts were still reluctant to forecast the bourse's short-term future in its current moribund phase.
