[01] UK national-missing-found14/10/2000 18:45:43Authorities and volunteers on Saturday found 53-year old British man who went missing in his effort to traverse the Samaria Gorge in southwestern Crete. Search and rescue opperations to locate Bryan Grisman begun on Friday, when authorities were informed of his disappearance by his wife. Grisman begun his trek at 11 p.m. on Thursday to traverse at night the famous Samaria Gorge, but did not return the next day. [02] Weather Forecast-Sunday14/10/2000 18:45:37Partly cloudy weather is forecast in most parts of the country on Sunday, with sunshine in the east Aegean and Dodecanese islands. Winds variable, moderate to very strong, turning gale force in parts of the Aegean. On the northern mainland temperatures will range from 12C to 23C; on the rest of the mainland and in the Ionian from 14C to 27C; and in the Aegean islands from 16C to 25C. Spinthourakis) The Middle East crisis, developments in Yugoslavia and the institutional reforms of the European Union dominated discussions of the 15 nation bloc leaders during their two-day informal summit in this French seaside resort, which concluded on Saturday. French President Jacques Chirac, delivered the closing address of the summit as his country currently holds the six-month rotating EU presidency, ahead of the formal Union Summit in December. During discussions for institutional reforms of the Union, Britain, France and Germany proposed that a ceiling should be put in place regarding the number of European Commissioners, in effect leaving some member-states without representation, as the enlargement process continues. Greece, as well as most of the member-states with smaller populations, disagreed with the proposal and did not want to discuss the possibility that they may not be represented in the Commission. Spinthourakis) European Union institutional reforms should be focused on reinforcing its effectiveness and democratic, Prime Minister Costas Simitis said during a press conference on Saturday, following the conclusion of the two-day informal Union summit in this French seaside resort. Simitis noted that there was definite progress in discussions to amend the Amsterdam Treaty, adding that quite possibly the ?15? would reach an agreement during their formal Summit in Nice, France, in December.
