[04] Pangalos - attack on Simitis - Vimagazino14/01/2001 16:58:17An open attack on Prime Minister Costas Simitis was launched by ousted former culture minister Theodoros Pangalos on Sunday - through the pages of the "Sunday Vima" supplement "Vimagazino" - in which he claims that the only bank managers would now re-elect Simitis and PASOK to power. Pangalos was sacked as culture minister by Simitis in November for criticising the government. He had also been forced to resign as foreign minister some years ago over the Ocalan affair. In the interview, Pangalos criticises the premier's decision as a tactical mistake " in which he cut off one of his own fingers" and blames the prime minister's immediate environment for cutting Simitis off from his associates. He also makes it clear that he is no longer a "great fan" of the prime minister.
