[01] New airport open to public20/03/2001 11:01:45Athens' new international airport at Spata, the 'Eleftherios Venizelos', will be opened to the public on Tuesday and Wednesday for tours around the new airport's facilities. Those wishing to visit the new airport will be able to get there on free buses, which depart from the Ethniki Amyna metro terminal from 9:00 until 16:00 local time. The airport will be inaugurated on March 27 by Prime Minister Costas Simitis, in the presence of President of the Republic Kostis Stephanopoulos. [04] ASE opening: Positive climate20/03/2001 10:42:14There was a positive climate as trading opened on the Athens Stock Exchange on Tuesday, with the general index up 0.83 per cent at 3,098.27 points and turnover at 8.6 million euros or 2.9 billion drachmas. All individual sector indices were rising, with most gains for the textile industry with 2.67 per cent, followed by construction with 2.56 per cent.
