    Cronus Airlines and Aegean Airlines have joined their flights in the wake of a merger between the two operators, which was approved by regulatory authorities last month.

    The two companies said in a statement on Tuesday that together they fly to 11 domestic destinations within Greece and eight abroad.

    Aegean is to handle domestic routes and Cronus foreign routes and charter flights, the statement added.

    Fair weather is forecast throughout the country on Wednesday. Winds northwesterly, moderate, turning strong at sea. Temperatures in the north will range from 5C to 23C; on the rest of the mainland and the Ionian from 9C to 26C; and in the Aegean islands from 12C to 22C. Sunshine in Athens, with temperatures between 12C and 25C. Same in Thessaloniki with temperatures from 9C to 23C.

    Equity prices ended lower for the second consecutive session on the Athens Stock Exchange hit by profit taking in blue chip stocks and by a low turnover.

    Blue chip stocks, like National Bank, Alpha Bank, Eurobank, led the market's decline with only the food and beverage sector scoring marginal gains.

    Fitco saw its share price soaring 73.45 percent on the first day of trading in the market.

    The general index ended 0.99 percent lower at 3,263.20 points, off the day's lows of 3,227.83 points. Turnover was a low 129.95 million euros, or 44.28 billion drachmas.

    The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavy traded stocks ended 1.19 percent lower at 1,889.28 points, and the FTSE/ASE 40 index dropped 1.11 percent to 376.92 points.

    The parallel market for smaller capitalisation stocks ended at 324.06 points, off 1.38 percent.
