Mostly sunny skies and scorching heat are again forecast for most of the country on Sunday, with a chance of sporadic showers in central and northern Greece. Northerly winds in the Aegean, strong to very strong at times. Temperatures between 22C and 32C in the north, 24C to 39C in the rest of the mainland, and up to 35C on the islands. Sunny in Athens, turning cloudy by afternoon, 27C to 39C. A chance of thunderstorms in Thessaloniki, 25C to 32C.

[02] Weak quake - Thessaloniki

A weak earthquake was recorded just after midnight on Saturday (12:49 a.m. local time) with an epicentre some 44 kilometres east of the northern Greek port city of Thessaloniki.

The quake registered 3.6 on the Richter scale and was felt in some of Thessalonikis eastern suburbs.
