Equities were slipping fast at the opening of trade Friday on the
Athens Stock Exchange, as a nervous market responded to downward market
trends worldwide with heavy selling. At 10:20 a.m., the general index
was down 1.63 percent at 2,723.91 points and turnover was 9.5 million
euro.
Individual sector indices were all moving down, with the heaviest
losses for the IT solutions index, down 2.71 percent.
The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was down
1.58 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was down 1.84 percent, and the
FTSE/ASE SMALLCAP index was down 1.83 percent.
Of the stocks moved, 10 were up, 263 were down and 15 were unchanged.
