[01] Athens Stock Exchange opening: slight rise

Equity priceswere rising slowly at the opening of trading Friday on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), with the general share price index up 0.41 percent at 2,592.57 points, and turnover at 10.98 million euros.

The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was up 0.29 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index rose 0.11 percent and the FTSE/ASE SmallCap 80 index was up 0.27 percent.

Of the stocks moved, 132 were up, 39 were down and 56 were unchanged.

[02] Weather Forecast: Snow and rain on Friday

Rain and snow is forecast throughout the country on Friday. Winds northerly, northwesterly, moderate to strong and in some areas they will reach gale force. In the north, temperatures will range from -5C to 4C; on the rest of the mainland from 2C to 11C; and in the islands from 10C to 15C. Rain in Athens with snow in local high elevations and temperatures between 8C and 11C. Sleet and snow in Thessaloniki, with temperatures from -1C to 4C.
