[01] Athens Stock Exchange opening: slight decline

Equities were tending downward at the opening of trading Monday on the Athens Stock Exchange, though finding support at the crucial 2,150-point level.

The general share price index was down 0.16 per cent at 2,156.41 points, with turnover at 13.16 million euros.

The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was down 0.21 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was down 0.04 percent, and the FTSE/ASE SmallCap 80 index was down 0.05 percent.

Of the stocks moved, 62 were up, 64 were down and 269 were unchanged.

Scattered showers, mainly on the mainland, are forecast on Monday for Greece. Northerly and north-easterly winds, moderate to strong possibly reaching gale force intensity during the night on the seas. Temperatures between 17C to 28C in the north; 19C to 31C in the rest of the mainland and 22C to 30C on the islands.

Cloudy with a chance of rain in Athens, 22C to 31C. The same for Thessaloniki, 20C to 28C.
