[01] Athens Stock Exchange opening: tentative rise

Equities were slowly rising at the opening of the session Thursday on the Athens Stock Exchange, with the bourse again taking its lead from markets in the rest of Europe.

The general share price index was up 0.41 per cent 15 minutes after trade opened, standing at 2,095.54 points, with turnover at 5.1 million euros.

Individual sector indices were mostly moving up, with the biggest gains in Construction, up 0.88 per cent, and the only losses in Investment, down 1.89 per cent.

The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was up 0.45 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was up 0.53 percent, and the FTSE/ASE SmallCap 80 index was up 0.37 percent.

Of the stocks moved, 113 were up, 48 were down and 40 were unchanged.

[02] Weather Forecast: Cloud, rain on Thursday

Scattered cloud is forecast in all parts of the country, with showers and isolated storms on the mainland from evening. Winds northwesterly, light to moderate, turning strong in the southeastern Aegean. On the mainland, temperatures will range from 15C to 29C; on the rest of the mainland from 20C to 28C; and in the islands also from 20C to 28C. Temperatures in Athens between 19C and 29C; and in Thessaloniki from 19C to 28C.
