[01] Athens Stock Exchange opening: upward swing

Equities were rising slowly at the opening of the session Tuesday on the Athens Stock Exchange, responding to signs of recovery in other European markets.

The general share price index was up 0.33 per cent 15 minutes after trade opened, standing at 2,033.61 points, with turnover at 2.1 million euros.

Individual sector indices were mostly moving up, with the biggest gains in Holding, up 1.27 per cent and the biggest losses in Retail Trade, down 2.09 per cent.

The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was up 0.43 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was up 0.04 percent, and the FTSE/ASE SmallCap 80 index was up 0.19 percent.

Of the stocks moved, 110 were up, 53 were down and 45 were unchanged.

[02] Weather Forecast: Cloud on Tuesday

Light cloud is forecast in all parts of the country that may turn to storms, mainly in the north. Winds north-northwesterly, light to moderate. In the north, temperatures will range from 14C to 28C; on the rest of the mainland from 17C to 30C; and in the islands from 20C to 29C. Temperatures in Athens between 18C and 29C; and in Thessaloniki from 17C to 28C.
