[01] Athens Stock Exchange opening: Decline

Equities were declining at the opening of the trading session Tuesday on the Athens Stock Exchange, with the general share price index down 0.22 per cent at 11:15 a.m., standing at 1,744.53 points, and turnover at 7.4 million euros, or 2.6 billion drachma.

Individual sector indices were moving mostly downward, with the biggest losses in IT Solutions, down 1.67 percent; Retail Trade, down 1.17 percent; IT, down 0.83 percent; and Insurance, down 0.81 percent; and the biggest gains in Construction, up 0.31 percent; Banks, up 0.17 percent; Textiles, up 0.13 percent; and the Parallel Market, up 0.07 percent.

The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was down 0.19 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was down 0.33 percent, and the FTSE/ASE SmallCap 80 index was down 0.34 percent.

Of the stocks moved, 58 were up, 101 were down, and 56 were unchanged.

[02] Weather Forecast: Cloud & rain expected on Tuesday

Cloud and fog are forecast for most parts of the country on Tuesday, while in the west there may be local rains later in the day with the phenomena encompassing the rest of the country late in the evening. Winds westerly-southwesterly, strong turning gale force in the southern Aegean and Ionian. In the north and center, temperatures will range from 2C to 13C; in the west from 5C to 17C; and in the rest of the country from 9C to 19C. Cloudy in Athens with rain later on in the day and temperatures between 08C and 17C. Same in Thessaloniki, with temperatures from 05C to 13C.
