[02] Slight earth tremor in Parnitha area

    04/01/2003 15:19:54

A slight earth tremor measuring 3.8 points on the Richter scale occurred in the area of Parnitha, west of Athens, at 12.34 on Saturday, in the same area where a killer earthquake struck in September 1999 and killed 143 people.

The tremor was felt in Peristeri, Ilion, Ano Liosia and Piraeus, which were the same regions, which had been struck by the earthquake in 1999.

Seismologists said there was no cause for alarm, since earth tremors of such a magnitude take place every day all over the country.
