[01] Athens Stock Exchange opening: Rise

Equities were rising at the opening of the trading session Tuesday on the Athens Stock Exchange, with the general share price index up 0.14 per cent at 11:15 a.m., standing at 1,778.64 points, and turnover at 8.2 million euros, or 2.8 billion drachma.

Individual sector indices were moving mostly upward, with the biggest gains in Publishing, up 2.00 percent; Participations, up 0.98 percent; and Textiles, up 0.64 percent; and the biggest losses in Investments, down 0.22 percent; Industry, down 0.14 percent; and Banks, down 0.14 percent.

The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was up 0.08 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was up 0.38 percent, the FTSE/ASE SmallCap 80 index was up 0.20 percent, and the FTSE/ASE-140 index was up 0.15 percent.

Of the stocks moved, 90 were up, 56 were down, and 46 were unchanged.

[02] Weather Forecast: Local rain, snow, expected on Tuesday

Local cloud, turning to showers and storms, and some snowfall, were expected in Greece on Tuesday.

Cloud was exepcted in western, central and northern Greece and the islands of the eastern Aegean on Tuesday, turning locally to rain, and to storms in the west. Snow flurries were expected on high ground in northern Greece. The rest of the country would be overcast, while weather conditions would improve from the west late at night. Strong winds were expected, turning to storm magnitude in the sea, while temperatures would range from 5 to 13 C in the north, 8-18 C in the Ionian and the rest of the mainland, and 21-21 C in the Aegean.

Athens would be partly overcast, with the chance of rain in the afternoon and temperatures of 10-17 C. The same in Thessaloniki, with temperatures of 7-12 C.
