[01] Suspected 17N terrorist group member arrested in Thessaloniki

Police on Thursday made the first arrest in a second round of arrests of terrorism suspects, detaining a 40-year-old man in the northern Greek capital Thessaloniki.

Counter-terrorism squad officers arrested Anestis Papanastasiou on Thursday morning as he was leaving his home for work at a foreign bank branch on central Tsimiski street. He is a cousin of suspected terrorist Nikos Papanastasiou, who is currently under detention at Korydallos prison pending trial on charges of belonging to the notorious 'November 17' terrorist group.
