[01] Athens Stock Exchange opening: Buoyant climate

Equities were rising on the Athens Stock Exchange at the opening of trade on Monday, mirroring the buoyant climate in other European markets. The general share price index was up 0.60 per cent at 11:20 a.m., standing at 1,689.49 points, and turnover was 3.3 million euro, or 1.1 billion drachma.

Individual sector indices were mostly moving upward, with the biggest gains in IT solutions, up 1.87 percent; Publishing, up 1.73 percent; and the Parallel Market, up 1.19 percent. None of the indices were moving down while the Investments index was stable.

The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was up 0.47 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was up 1.10 percent, the FTSE/ASE SmallCap 80 index was up 1.09 percent, and the FTSE/ASE-140 index was up 0.63 percent.

Of the stocks moved, 178 were up, 22 were down, and 41 were unchanged.

[02] Weather Forecast: Rain on Monday

Cloud and rain are forecast in all parts of the country, with storms at sea in the south, and snow in the centre and north. Winds variable, strong to gale force. In the north, temperatures will range from -4 to 4C; on the rest of the mainland from -2C to 9C; and in the islands from 3C to 11C. Temperatures in Athens between 3C and 9C; and in Thessaloniki from 0C to 4C.
