  • [01] Athens court tosses out OTE telecom discount scheme

    09/07/2003 20:38:04

An Athens administrative court on Wednesday ruled against a discount rate package offered by Athens-quoted Hellenic Telecommunications (OTE) as unfair competition.

The heavily advertised package for retail and corporate customers offered discounts for calls abroad of up to 35 percent based on a customer's overall telephone traffic.

Later on Wednesday, OTE sent a revised package to the national telecoms and post office commission for approval, the company said in a statement.

The new proposal decouples the discount on international calls from the rest of the bill, the statement said.
