[01] Athens awaits extradition request for outlaw Russian media magnate

Greek authorities are reportedly waiting for an extradition request by Moscow following the arrest on Saturday of Russian businessman Vladimir Gusinskiy at Athens airport.

The former chief of the Media-Most Holdings, one of Russias largest private broadcast networks, arrived in Athens aboard a flight from Tel-Aviv, before being arrested on warrants issued via Interpol.

According to reports, Gusinskiy has been wanted since late 2000 in connection with a multi-million-dollar money laundering and loan fraud. Greek authorities said Russias embassy in Athens was notified of the arrest.

The man had been detained in Spain almost two years ago, although courts there rejected Russia's extradition request in April 2001.

[02] 2 Albanians sought in fatal shooting of nightclub owner

Police were searching for two Albanian nationals accused of gunning down a 37-year-old nightclub owner in eastern Attica (Kalyvia township) early Sunday morning.

One of the two suspects was identified as Manol Tsaousi, 21, while the other was unidentified.

According to reports, the first suspect shot and killed Constantinos Nounanakis after he was banned from the victims club over the past few days for rowdy behaviour.

Police are also on the lookout for the suspects getaway vehicle, described as a black ?Alfa Romeo? sporting the licence plate BOB 8878.
