[01] Inflation seen steady at 3.4-3.5pct in 2003

Inflation is likely to be steady at 3.4 per cent to 3.5 per cent in 2003, Development Minister Akis Tsohatzopoulos said on Sunday.

''Along general lines, there has been a stabilisation of prices, and, as movement of the consumer price index has shown, we are heading in a favourable direction against previous months,'' Tsohatzopoulos told reporters during a tour of Thessaloniki's central market.

''This means that this year also, inflation will be around 3.4-3.5 per cent,'' he said.

The minister called on the public to shop carefully and opt for good quality products at reasonable prices as part of the government's effort to contain inflation.

[02] Weather Forecast: Sunshine, scattered cloud on Monday

Sunshine and scattered cloud are forecast in all parts of the country, with showers expected mainly in the west. Winds southerly. Temperatures are to rise slightly, with a minimum of 7C and maximum of 16C in Athens; and in Thessaloniki, 2C to 12C.
