[01] Greek stocks jump 1.41 percent on Monday

Greek stocks soared on Monday pushing the general index closer to the
3,350-point resistance level. The index ended 1.41 percent higher at
2,346.19 points, remaining on an upward trend for the sixth consecutive
session, reflecting improved climate in the domestic market and a rally
of prices in other international bourses over the same period.
Hellenic Telecommunications Organisation's shares led the advance
ending 5.15 percent higher. The Cement, Construction and Holding
sectors suffered losses (0.87 percent, 0.55 percent and 0.33 percent,
respectively), while the Retail (3.08 percent), IT (2.92 percent) and
Telecommunications (2.75 percent) sectors scored the biggest percentage
gains of the day.
Turnover was a huge 289.2 million euros. The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue
chip and heavy traded stocks rose 1.46 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40
index ended 1.32 percent higher and the FTSE/ASE SmallCap 80 index rose
1.39 percent.
Broadly, advancers led decliners by 231 to 83 with another 44 issues
unchanged.
