[01] Four cross-border memorandums worth 33 million euros signed in SofiaFour memorandums of cross-border cooperation between Greece, Bulgaria along with another three nations, worth a total of 33 million euros, were signed here this week by Bulgarian Finance Minister Milen Velchev and the head of the EUās permanent representation in Sofia, Dimitris Kourkoulas.Various Greek-Bulgarian initiatives will be funded by a total of 22 million euros, including tourism and cultural tourism, environmental protection, combating unemployment, exploiting geo-thermal springs in Bulgaria and joint management of the Nestos Riverās waters. Meanwhile, in a related development, the Bulgarian parliament this week overwhelmingly ratified a law of accession ahead of expected European Union membership in 2007. [02] Opposition statements over May Day, rallies held in AthensOpposition parties issued their traditional messages for this year's May Day celebrations, which was transferred to May 11 this year as May 1 fell on Orthodox Easter Sunday.
